Meet the Founder
John Scott | CEO, J. Scott Group LLC
John Scott brings over 25 years of experience in youth leadership, outdoor education, and survival training to JScott Group Outdoors.
He served as a director of the Pathfinders youth organization in Virginia, through the Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and is also a Master Guide within the organization. His experience includes planning and leading youth programs, camping events, and hands-on outdoor training, as well as teaching survival skills to staff and directors.
Through JScott Group Outdoors, John helps youth, families, and beginners build practical outdoor skills, grow in confidence, and connect with nature.

Our Mission
JScott Group Outdoors introduces families and children to the outdoors through safe, fun, and accessible training programs.
We serve individuals and communities who don’t typically spend time outdoors by teaching simple, practical, and confidence-building skills — starting in local parks, not deep wilderness.
Our programs are designed for families, youth groups, schools, homeschoolers, and community organizations, welcoming beginners of all ages and experience levels.
We believe the outdoors is for everyone.
Your Outdoor Learning Journey
Tier 1 — Safety & Fun Outdoors
A beginner-friendly introduction to outdoor safety, preparation, and practical skills for families and youth.
2–4 hours • No overnight camping
Tier 2 — Basic Camping Skills
Build camping confidence through hands-on practice with setting up camp, using equipment, and campsite safety.
4–6 hours • Day camp only • No overnight stay
Tier 3 — Intermediate Camping Skills
Put your camping skills into practice during a guided overnight experience, building confidence, teamwork, and outdoor responsibility.
Overnight camping • Parent or guardian required for youth
Tier 4 — Cold Weather Camping
Advance your camping skills with cold-weather preparation, appropriate gear, and safe camping practices in colder conditions.
1–2 nights • Tier 1-3 completion required
The Cool Spot —
A Space to Learn, Explore & Grow
We’re developing The Cool Spot at Eden Green Farms in Prince George, Virginia—a welcoming outdoor learning space for youth, families, and community groups.
Our vision is a place where participants can build practical outdoor skills, grow in confidence, and connect with nature through hands-on experiences.
Funding and community partnerships will help prepare the designated activity area, provide equipment, and bring this vision to life while preserving the surrounding wooded setting.
